During a break on a journey, the companions shared work among themselves to prepare food. The Prophet (pbuh) also joined them and took upon himself the task of collecting firewood. His companions pleaded him not to do it and that he need not take the trouble, but he replied:
'I do not like to attain any difference to myself. Allah does not like the man who thinks himself superior to his friends.'
